How many times have you been to Bled for kremšnita (cream slice) but haven’t dared to take a peek from the promenade through the semi-circular doors of Bled’s Grand Hotel Toplice? And how many times have you paid more for dinner in a restaurant than for five courses at Julijana among distinguished guests and with the finest ingredients presented on chef’s plates. A visit to Restavracija Julijana is, therefore, the place to put any such wrongs right!
Restavracija Julijana actually only has a small number of tables, however, if you book in advance for the chef’s tasting menu, they will lay a table for you in the middle of the large kitchen! Whilst other guests in the dining room will be handed menus to peruse, as a special guest you will be bought food prepared by the likeable young chef Simon Bertoncelj, which showcases all that he learnt during time spent with Gordon Ramsay, Marc Meurin, Bobby Bräuer, and at the Culinary Olympics.
Start at the chef’s table in the kitchen (be sure to reserve in advance!), then continue with the chef’s menu served at elegantly laid tables in the dining room of one of Bled’s best hotels with a view of the lake.
