After a day full of adrenaline in the Soča valley, guests from all over the world head for restaurants of the tourist town of Kobarid, where, right at its heart, is hotel Hvala and its ‘seafood’ terrace on the pavement of the main street. For 50 years, Topli val has had a reputation as one of the best Slovenian seafood restaurants!
It really is fresh from the sea and really doesn’t cough and sneeze from the fridge. That’s why the experienced seafood chef Gorazd Marksl doesn’t complicate things, but rather leaves the sea breeze, which is always fresh under the mountains, to just two turns of the more-than-a-metre-long pepper mill, which is a family heirloom. Treat yourself to oysters and scallops on ice, steamed mixed seafood, Venus clams, lobster with pasta, and fish in the ‘It’s fresh today’.
Recommendation

Topli val is a restaurant for lovers of seafood. Those who, even in this valley surrounded by mountains, can’t live without fish dishes as well as those who would usually only order uncooked cockles, crab and the like on seafront promenades. Restavracija Topli val has good connections at the coast, skilled hands in the kitchen, and a young hosts on the terrace with its beautifully laid tables, where over seafood and Kobarid štruklji you can also indulge in fine international wines. And a must for visitors to Hiša Franko, for whom Staro selo is too good and too far away, to not spend the night. The middle of Kobarid is the ideal place to spend the next day!
