The tradition dates back to 1967. Rabbit stuffed with the secrets of a good home cook is only a few years younger. It is a long tradition, in which so many ‘business partners’ have accumulated (three farms, two agricultural cooperatives, two hunting societies, beekeeping, fish farming, an oil mill and gardening) that Vernik’s ingredients are always fresh and local, and there are enough homemade products for an entire store.

New Vernik

Not only are the dark tables with brown tablecloths and ornate chairs with soft backs new, what stands out most in the new generation Vernik is the white. When a homely and traditional inn, especially if it is Gostilna Slovenija, is equipped with such fine napkins, its message is clear. A good lunch begins at a beautifully set table!

Greetings

Greetings from the kitchen: homemade liver pate on homemade white bread with pumpkin seeds.

Black radish

Grated black radish with Styrian pumpkin seed oil, Pohorje bunka (pork), homemade liver pâté, pickled vegetables, egg. The board features a beautiful display of seasonal and local dishes.

Beef in salad

Pumpkin soup made from Hokkaido pumpkin, pumpkin seed oil, pumpkin seeds.

Beef soup

Homemade beef soup with noodles. The soup is made with beef from Pohorje, it contains homemade noodles, and the soup has a color that is not only from floating carrots and parsley.

Peasant feast

Vernik’s homemade porks sausage in a mesh, homemade pork sausages millet porridge, baked pork ribs, roasted potatoes, sauerkraut, pickled turnips, baked beans. Vernik’s koline are special! This is their main feature.

Stuffed rabbit

House specialty awarded with the Golden Chef award in Milan. Rabbit served with fermented dumpling and curd štruklji.

Sponge cake trifle

Cake made with vanilla cream, walnuts, chocolate and raisins. Served with cream and ice cream.
