Homely is the best!
The hungry and the thirsty are together on the terrace, cats and chickens are nibbling and pecking in the garden, locals are at their regular tables, in the dining room the salamis smell of old smoke and the trout of new, and those seeking more simple dishes, such as goulash, as well as those dining on chef’s specials. Gostilna Krištof is the kind of place where one feels great, and where even a trip to the bathroom is an experience.
Many years have passed since Krištof was still just a village inn, nowadays it is one of Slovenia’s best restaurants, but what has remained the most important throughout the years is, above all, that it is good. So, you know what awaits you, hence you look forward to it. The dishes change, because chef Uroš Gorjanc is talented and likes to be original, as he works with the best quality, local, natural, seasonal and fresh ingredients.
Therefore, you can always ask for foie gras or aged Slovenian steak, or if you are in a hurry, just order Carniolan sausage with horseradish and mustard. But, just as the Carniolan sausages at Gostilna Krištof are from the Hribar Farm, the dishes recommended to guests are just Krištof’s.

At Gostilna Krištof you can sit at the bar over a bowl of goulash or stew, or on the roadside terrace where you enjoy vegan cabbage rolls. But you go to Krištof for snow-white tablecloths … This is the kind of restaurant hospitality that one searches for in vain elsewhere, but at Krištof you rely on there always being a lot of wines in the centre of the old, wooden, homely dining room, full of organised chaos and black and white memorabilia, always some kind of organic sausage in the wooden meat slicer, and you are always at the same table, albeit always savouring different chef’s specials. This is a restaurant where you choose what Krištof recommends.
