Local can also be top-notch!
Gostilna Krištof is a homely, local restaurant but one that offers top-notch food! A variety of features and stories are intertwined beneath its new roof. It’s no wonder that the owner brothers take it in turns to work throughout the week, since, in addition to the restaurant, Gostilna Krištof also boasts a forest villa, a restaurant for two, Nežka’s house, and a larder, while they also co-host and cater for dinners on the Krvavec cablecar.
We tend to visit other local restaurants because we know what we will eat there, hence we feel within our comfort zone. At Gostilna Krištof, however, I always promise myself that next time I will ‘only’ order the organic tripe or the Solčava lamb stew, however, curiosity always gets the better of me and I, again, give in!
Although Gostilna Krištof is both a local (village) and high-class restaurant, there is no need to worry about whether ‘normal’ guests are welcome or whether ‘elite’ guests aren’t. Everyone is made to feel welcome here. Among the diners at Gostilna Krištof are not only the hungry and thirsty, but also the curious, vegans, and the organic-aware.

Some tables are laid on the terrace while others aren’t, however, we are all there for the same reason – to eat! In the dining room there are tempting smells of traditional salami and a new smoked version of sea bass. At Gostilna Krištof, even the way to the WC is an experience, hence a visit is a pleasant one indeed!
