Traditional Repnik for the future

Repnik is proof that is doesn’t take a lot to make a better Slovenian restaurant. The roast pork, of course, must be good. As must the beef and the mushroom soup, homemade salami and home-baked bread, salad from the garden and cheese from mountain pastures. But for a long tradition, a full Sunday and a busy everyday life, nowadays you also need a meadow for weddings, a paddock for horses, a guesthouse for tourists, plenty of space for birthday parties and enough delicious reasons to enter the name of the restaurant in one’s navigation system.

Repnik was a mother’s restaurant, but when it was taken over by the son, he readied it for the future, but in a way that left it with a homely character. Proof that even traditional Slovenian village restaurants must develop and progress. Traditional Repnik does not sleep in the past!

Recommendation

Quote

Gostilna Repnik isn’t a traditional inn, because it dates from old times; it isn’t a local inn, because it serves beef soup and mushroom soup every day; and it isn’t a tavern, because locals are in its rooms … it is, however, all of the aforementioned but only because it modernises the traditional and is homely thanks to local and seasonal ingredients and, above all, because it cultivates the restaurant institution! These are dishes that, sensibly, remain in one’s comfort zone but with ideas and execution that excite even the most demanding curiosity.

Wine list

Among 50 labels are not only recognised and famous wines but also different ones: lesser-known Slovenian vintners, including macerated wines, older vintages and some foreign wines too.
House wine: Vinakoper, Klet Brda and Šumenjak.

Ambience

Regular guests prefer to be in the farmers’ room, while there is enough room in Repnik’s hall for everything from christenings to wakes. It is a starting point for hikes to the Velika planina mountain pasture in a stylish-contemporary guesthouse, the bride and groom can say their vows and kiss on a fairytale meadow with a pond, and the white tableware in the new dining room matches perfectly with aged and the finest quality wines.
