Where you know what you eat and drink

The Puhan’s pigs get their taste from a farm in Černelavci, therefore you will taste them from snout to tail. The Dödöli (potato and wheat dumplings) aren’t just generous in size and come with two toppings – sour cream and minced pork lard – they also come sautéed as a house special. The mushrooms for the porcini mushroom soup with buckwheat come from the local forests, here where the Goričko region begins.

Your tastebuds will discover why it’s only right that Prekmurje ham is a protected food; this fragrant, pink speciality that is eaten by hand, and the Puhans not only have a certificate for their ham but also for their shop, so your trip to Prekmurje will remain in your memory for a long time. If after fried chicken, and salad from the family garden, you haven’t got room for Prekmurje gibanica, don’t worry because the curd cheese tart only has one layer!

Recommendation

Quote

Neighbours (and Austrians) feel at home, day trippers feel honoured, tourists relish the experience, children are frolicsome and those paying are generous, because the Puhan family spend four days a week growing and producing, while on the other three days they let the seasons inspire them in the kitchen, where the mainstays are pork, chicken, venison, buckwheat and potato. We recommend the Perfect Experience tasting menu.
