Really close to, yet far from, Bled
Guests from all over the world first heard about this alpine village on the edge of Triglav National Park when they were looking for a comfortable holiday stay near Bled, but far enough from its tourist hustle and bustle. They chose Zgornje Gorje for its peace beneath the mountains and as a starting point for hiking and cycling adventures in the Julian Alps. But then, close to St. George’s church, among the village houses, where the road turns twice in a sharp bend, they found the boutique Hotel Julian Alps on a two-hundred-year-old farm and fell in love with it.
The boutique Julian Alps Hotel is a hidden gem on the edge of Triglav National Park, not only because it is close, yet far enough from Bled, but also because its Julija restaurant in Gorje invites you to enjoy simple, yet good, dishes, while the hotel beckons for a comfortable rest and morning hiking refreshment. Eggs are served Carniolan-style with pork crackling.
Recommendation
If you don’t stay overnight and therefore miss out on the a-la-carte egg breakfast, at least come for dinner. For example, pork chops with a herb crust; what was (just) simply (and) good before that only foreshadows these thick suckling pig chops that will have you all happily munching away, surrounded by hills, the following day.

Wine list
The wine list (40+ labels; external sommelier Damir Salkič; 20 wines by the glass) allows for a wine accompaniment to the four-course menus, which change every day of the week.
Ambience
A dining room for a long breakfast and not too long dinner, with a relaxing terrace, between mountains and by a farm.
Specialities
Hotel Julian Alps. Two hundred (and more) years ago, the farm was the largest in the village and far beyond. Through careful renovation and restoration supervision, the old farm building and large barn were transformed into a boutique hotel that has preserved the nobility of the former agricultural estate and acquired the comforts of a prestigious hotel.
