A century-old, four generation restaurant

When one is greeted at this roadside restaurant, with its century-long, four generation tradition, which in the past served as a rest stop for horse and cart drivers, you are greeted by fine tableware and such a large spoon that it’s clear that you haven’t stopped here just for some quick sustenance.

Janez Repolusk hasn’t got a master’s degree just so he can copy/paste old recipes, but rather so that he can shape them into his own creations. Since the tradition of charcoal burning is still active in Mislinja, Repolusk’s bread is black from real Mislinja charcoal, which chef Janez ground in order to create a sample, local souvenir for the mouth, with pumpkin seed oil, his stepfather’s crackling, onion in beetroot juice and dried yellow rose petals.

Even though the restaurant is away from the motorway, this is, in fact, a positive. Even though its away from big towns and cities, there are enough smaller ones in the surroundings that it isn’t expensive. Although it’s a roadside restaurant, guests love it, because they can try a tasting menu in this century-old restaurant. One doesn’t expect this in a village restaurant but isn’t it only right that the story you anticipated is confirmed when you look through the window at Repolusk and the sun lights up the Pohorje view – the first snow of the winter overnight?!

Gostilna Repolusk is an old roadside restaurant, albeit with a chef who, behind the century-old front door, and with fine tableware, serves the best Pohorje stew and the most ambitious village lunch. And for a longer break, a tasting menu of the tastes of Mislinja. Gluten-free dishes are among Repolusk’s specialities, which are equally as delicious and of the same high quality.

Ambience

Gostilna Repolusk is a roadside restaurant, hence one needs to go to the back of the building, where there is a pleasant wooden terrace, a large garden, a long vegetable patch and Repolusk’s wedding lawn with a romantic pond.
