Oštarija Herbelier isn’t an inn, isn’t a hotel, and isn’t a restaurant either. Oštarija Herbelier is a story! And this is a story to be experienced rather than to be heard. Therefore, one needs to get up early, to ‘meet’ the friendly ‘monster’ in the local stream and a timid bear in the Kočevjski Rog forest. Along the way pick you can pick meadow herbs and discover how to use them for survival in the ancient forest, cycle off the beaten track, and end the day, dressed for dinner, in one of the herbal rooms, which nicely rounds off this culinary adventure and is proof that Dolenjske Toplice is no longer a boring spa town.
Certainly not just for dinner. This ‘herbal’ hotel offers so many interesting experiences that, after your fill, even an afternoon nap seems healing, while dinner is full of energy. If you only go for dinner (or lunch), then do so with respect for local producers, ingredients, flavours, customs, recipes and the chef’s infectious smile.
