Only Slovenian and only the best
In the morning, Zlata ladjica, which is a hotel with a lot of stars and few rooms, offers the best Ljubljana breakfast on its green balcony beneath which run the Ljubljanica river and Ljubljana’s locals. Hence it is also the longest. Zlata ladjica is a pub in a restaurant garden, which was a Ljubljana legend even before the ‘most beautiful city in the world’ became the most besieged European culinary scene.
In the evening, Zlata ladjica is a gourmet restaurant such that the lively culinary hubbub of the Ljubljanica remains in front of the door while Ljubljana’s other star restaurants remain on the concierge’s list for another day. The atmosphere in the evening is intimate and refined while the food on the plate is ‘just’ the best.
One doesn’t go to Zlata ladjica because of the best octopus, steak tartare or ravioli in the city, but rather because after having enjoyed the aforementioned, you can sleep in the president’s apartment or order a glass of the finest wine to be enjoyed with your chosen company over a coffee dessert made from shortcrust pastry with a caramel glaze.
Recommendation
Zlata ladjica is also an evening restaurant, which after a multi-course, modern, seasonal meal, featuring an equal measure of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, made largely from organic Slovenian ingredients, invites guests to take a walk through the hotel which is a mixture of the history of Ljubljana and Slovenia, from mythological dragons, to argonauts, to the present day with a 5-star superior category.
