From amphorae, albeit Brdo-style

At Domačija Kabaj Morel there are a lot of flowers, greenery, vines and views. Above the old wine cellar is the large dining room, which covers the entire ground floor of the big house, at the far end of which is a large window with views that makes one feel as if you are eating in a vineyard. Accommodation is also available, which comes in handy after the tasting menu and wine. It is actually nature that dictates to the chef, so to speak: “Look, smell, listen!”, and to the vintner: “Do as you did in the past!”

This large homestead with accommodation has grown above the old wine cellar, from the old house, in front of which people used to play bowls, and where nowadays people from near and far park their cars. Wines made in kvevris and dolia come from the old vineyard, which dates back half a century and faces southeast. From the old inn, where local wine was once drunk, the love between a woman from Brda and a Frenchman resulted in an organic wine and holiday farm, where the cooking is still Brda style, albeit with a French accent and a chef’s expertise.

Recommendation

Quote

Three things at once: visit for a Brdo five-course meal and get a wine tasting too – of wines that are drunk in the best restaurants throughout the world – and accommodation in the middle of a vineyard that can be seen through the large windows of the dining room.
