In the middle of the village

Hrast is a traditional inn that has undergone a modern renovation. It is in the middle of the village, almost on the border, and away, but not too far from the motorway. It has a pizzeria, a garden, and is located between the church, the municipality building and the cultural centre, but is also an inn with culinary ambitions. Gostilna Hrast is the perfect reason for those who haven’t yet visited Apače to do so.

Therefore, the old Hrast (Oak), which has been renovated in new oak, is still a traditional inn, where locals sit in the shade or behind the bar, while youngsters enjoy a seasonal burger or Styrian pizza. However, now the hungry no longer just choose between fried chicken and a real Viennese schnitzel, but they are also interested in what is in that large wooden salad bowl, what that soup is that looks like a fruit salad, and why there are black walnuts on the fregola, and why the white polenta is served with honey.

Recommendation

Quote

Sooner or later, those who come for a pizza or burger become curious, as Hrast knows how to convince them with dishes such as orange and algae in a seafood salad, egg yolk and potato foam on buckwheat with calves’ liver, crispy ravioli in fish soup, crispy panada on pork medallions… or just with cherries in homemade tiramisu.

Wine list

In the homely Styrian inn, locals drink their own way, but Hrast also has three wine cabinets and a wine list (30 labels).

Ambience

Hrast is an old, homely, rural inn, whose new owners have carried out a modern renovation. However, with new oak wood and wine cabinets, it remains a homely inn in the middle of Apače!
