All hail potica!

Welcome to Bogenšperk Castle, where, while savouring the regal food, you can learn to roll the most well-known Slovenian food – potica.

Gostilna Krčma is one of the reasons that Bogenšperk Castle is a serious candidate for the most beautiful castle to visit in Slovenia. Gostilna Krcma isn’t just a tavern for castle visitors but rather a castle restaurant for inquisitive diners, where a trip back to the times of Janez Vajkard Valvasor is rewarded with a surprise from the restaurant’s fountain of flavours, which draws from the past to create the present.

Because there is so much to see and do at the castle, you first visit due to Bogenšperk itself. However, because Gostilna Krčma, with its ambitious food, doesn’t just satiate the hungry but also the inquisitive, you return due to the potato cooked in soil, the potica that you roll in between courses, the chef that serves contemporary food on an old wall clock, irresistible castle chocolates and a wine cellar that is a ‘must’ visit.

Quote

As Bogenšperk is so beautiful and offers so much, visitors initially come merely because of the castle itself. However, the tavern Krčma and its ambitious food satisfies the hungry while appealing the curious.

Ambience

Although it’s pleasant in the castle courtyard and, of course, the castle also has a park, the ‘old’ dining room is the real stage for Tavern Krčma’s ‘new’ food.
