Why cross the Sava?

Restaurant Ajda provides Sevnica, which is known for its salami and blue Frankish wine festivals and Melania (Trump!), with an added culinary reason to turn off over the Sava River. Therefore, it’s a reward for locals: who don’t need to drive towards Brežice or Ljubljana for every special occasion; for hotel guests because they’ve chosen a town hotel rather than a tourist farm; for Posavje winemakers, because rested hotel and wine tasting guests come to visit; and the local environment, because people are well dressed, have invited friends and come here to settle business.

Ajda is a restaurant that doesn’t have an illegible chef’s signature but does have stylish and delicious food. The lack of surprises isn’t noticeable, since there are familiar flavours albeit in a refined Ajda way. Thus, the beans with potatoes is like the local potica with pork crackling, the cold cut platter is like tasting all the tastes of Sevnica, the house gnocchi is like a surprise, and the Melania cake is like an exhibition!

Ambience

When you enter (the dining room), you are no longer in Sevnica. The contemporary bistro area is bright, orderly, calm and inviting, while the spacious dining room, with its beautiful tablecloths, large and small tables, wine glasses and elegance, provides an escape from the main streets of Sevnica.
